Four Categories. One Standard Each.
Every business on The Morrigan carries at least one verification badge. Each badge has a clear definition and a specific evidence requirement. You can filter the directory by any combination of categories — because different people care about different standards.
This article is the essay version of our how we verify page. The standards are the same; the detail here goes a little further.
Female Founded
Definition: At least one woman among the original founders of the business, at any equity level.
Evidence we require: CRO filing showing founder names, public LinkedIn or company about page, or owner statement at sign-up.
This category recognises origin. A business may have changed hands since founding; if a woman was among the founders, the badge still applies.
Female Owned
Definition: Majority ownership (more than 50%) currently held by women.
Evidence we require: CRO shareholder filing, statutory accounts, or owner attestation.
Ownership matters when buyers want to know where the money goes. We state the standard plainly so you do not have to guess.
Female Led
Definition: Current CEO, Managing Director, or equivalent operational head is a woman, irrespective of ownership.
Evidence we require: Public title verification via LinkedIn, company website, or CRO directors filing.
A business can be female-led without being majority female-owned. Both things can be true. We badge them separately so you can filter for what you care about.
Female Senior Team
Definition: At least 50% female representation in the C-suite or senior leadership team (typically the top five to eight roles).
Evidence we require: Public team page review, LinkedIn cross-check, or optional company attestation.
This category reflects how power is distributed day to day — not just who owns the cap table or holds the CEO title.
Verified, never paid-for
No business pays to appear higher in the directory. We do not sell placement. If a listing is on The Morrigan, it met one of these standards at the time we verified it.
Browse verified businesses in the directory, or read a placeholder listing such as Siobhán O'Brien Photography to see how badges appear on a profile.
